Water is the main source of life and an essential resource for health and evelopment. Although roughly 70 percent of our planet is covered with water, it is increasingly becoming a scarce good as the world population and the demand for water continue to grow. At mine sites a huge amount of water is needed to process and recover minerals. Sourcing the water supply is a challenge especially in areas where water is a scarce resource, and it always represents a significant cost factor.
Water management will even gain more importance in future due to the trend of declining ore grades, new mine openings in water stressed areas and increasing national regulations.
