What are surfactants?
A surfactant is any organic compound that contains both hydrophilic (water-attracting) and hydrophobic (water-repelling) groups, making it surface-active. These substances adsorb at interfaces to reduce surface and interfacial tension.
They can be used in multiple oilfield applications to help produce oil more efficiently.

Sustainability
Sustainability is an important element of the BASF strategy, such that we help enable our customers’ green transformation.
Several of our surfactants are produced from biobased feedstocks, like oliochemicals and alkyl polyglycosides, meaning they are derived from plants and are biodegradable.
Additionally, some of our products are registered with Cefas with a silver HQ band and no substitution warning, making them a smart choice for use in more highly regulated markets such as the North Sea.

Once your solution has made it through the field trial and you’re ready to order regular product supply, BASF can support you by evaluating optimal stocking points to reduce lead times.
